It is named after 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, the Supreme Allied Commander (Southeast Asia) who accepted the Japanese surrender during World War II.

Art in Transit

The artwork featured in this station is Lord Mountbatten Thinks of Pink by Jason Wee. The artwork depicts a modern container ship at those 'pink' hours, a vessel typical of those moored off the Fort Road shoreline close to the station.
