[edit] Science and Belief
- [[1]] see forum
“In Science a healthy skepticism is a professional necessity, whereas in religion, having a belief without evidence is seen as virtue.” WROTE American writer Paul Davies and he added, that,
- “All science proceed on the assumption that nature is ordered in a rational and intelligent way.”
Illustration: One of my old teachers (from Braddell Rise Primary School) who for years had remembered that he was the first to win the Liverpool football pool (a jackpot:over 70,000 pounds) in Singapore (then, a British colony!) We used to meet and chat a bit, and one evening when he was strolling in Ang Mo Kio area here on the little Island of 4 millions (people) skeptically asked me suddenly "If I ever seen God?" Knowing him for years and still respected him as an old teacher from my school, I can't held but accepted the query challenge to show "proofs" I simply asked him to go jump down from the eleven storey building, and he will be sure to see God too! The point is this: we all have a pair of eyes to see the great wonderful Universe outside us, and within us there is still a great expandable mind as big as the Universe, and we cannot see God? That question (re-phasing it right!) is we may lack understand to believe that God created all. These all is the way God, Himself manifest in the creation, however to show us Himself though it is humanly impossible to see Spirit, and God is the Great Wonderful Spirit too~? That's not the way He ordered the Universe to be! The see-ing issue is not as important as the "recognition" aspect. If you recognise the Great Universe and that great Soul within us all, then you mean you cannot relate to it as evidences and proof of God?
[edit] "Just as they are" is no answer in Science
- Why is.. that the sunshine never changes it's speed? Yet we know all things changes and dies..why?
- What's behind all the Sciences, is it mathematical correct to assume "just as they are!" for any or such a clever excuse to answer to what Sciences assumed that all things came to be "without a rational explanation" ?
[edit] mIRACLE in Science
What can hold up a large heavy brick weigh less than 2 grams itself? Insulated heat and electricity so efficiently as this picture below shows:
[edit] Science that assumes "all things came into being just as they are" is a belief too
[edit] Belief and believing
Believe is not just about religions, it is inherent in all of us to believe. If a person claims one need not believe in anything, that person is likely not normal. When anyone drinks a cup of water, that person need to believe it is clean, and worthy of drinking. If there is any doubt, the person won't likely drink it. It may be full germs and toxic, who knows?
- Fundamental to life is the fact that we need to believe in order to live. Nobody can survive on doubting , it is very negative and against nature of things.
- Our whole society is built upon the fundamental rock of belief. The money we all use is a good example. I buy something, a piece of bread and a cup of teh-trek to drink and eat, the vendor does it with a flair and serve me while I wait on a coffee table, and all I need to say is maybe "thanks" when I am served. I don't need to be questioning if that stuffs served is worthy of my trust, and the seller never question whether my money is good or fake! So is everything else when we buy or sells. That's fundamental not only in Singapore, it the systems for society everywhere need to do in order to live.
- With religions it is different. It is not based upon what is obvious but the metaphysical or the spiritual. Can anyone see spirits? No! not likely_lah! It is just like the Wind. When it blows we can never tell, for instance, up in the high attitudes, there is a wind which blows very, very fast but we cannot tell because there nothing up there to show. Even the clouds are not that high to show!
- It's like wind blowing in a airless atmospheric vacuum, we won't see anything but we are clever and smart enough to make some instrument which can detect and measure the flow of the wind! However, when the winds blows, we will likely know because we can see the treetops are moving and maybe you feel it when the cool air touches your skin! That's real.
- Some great religions have great systems of belief. I will never attempt to prove it is not real. Millions follow them. They all believe it is real as can be. Neither will I try to prove that they are not pure. Some of their teachings and moral precepts are so high even the normal people won't be able to achieve such ideals except for gods and holy saints. However, the bottom line of all beliefs is this: will it hold up to what it claims to be when the time comes? What is the basis of its authoritative teachings? If it were from people who created it, then would the people (founders) of such religions measure up to their claims? I have yet met any of the great religious founders since most of them are alive when I am not even born, it is impossible for me to go and ask them. It's a matter of belief.
- Just as I personally believe my own religion is real, true and based upon the Bible does not means others are false and not true. But it is important to find out for what it is worth our trust. Most people I find don't bother. They leave it to the priests, pastors, and even those religious charlatans to tell them that their own religions are reliable! In Singapore I still find it strange when someone dies, the family would engage the service of a Buddhist group to do their religious thing, and plus some church pastor and members to do their singing and preaching and maybe some more others -whatever they let the religious crowds to do it. It is just like making rojak or some mixed drink concoctions- very exotic and good maybe! Beside it can’t be too wrong, all are good and by chance, one is right, that’s good enough_you know! Perhaps or just another perchance ! like striking the jackpot for Toto
lah!
- In conclusion, I just want to say it is important to find out before it's too late. Don't wait when you are old and about to die. While you still healthy and living, go get your eternal life insurance , and go find out about what you need to believe! The wise old King Solomon say Remember the days when you are young, go find out about eternal life! Don't buy another insurance when you know the Company won't be paying because it's another of those professional conmen scheming! If it is BIG does not means it is always really true to what it claims to be! There are professional religious charlatans everywhere, check it out!
- Think about eternity in correct prospective: For only One life t'll soon be Past but only What's done for Christ will lasts!
[edit] Congruity & Incongruity
The acceptance of the existence of God as Creator of the world is like a magic key that fits all the facts of Scripture, revelation, knowledge and science.
Belief: all religions are beliefs, and all are metaphysical phenomena involving a certain assumed beliefs as dictated by Holy books. Customs, traditions or even modern assumption in philosophies such as evolution is a belief too. Pantheism is also a religion and philosophy as it got to do with a belief in God, although denying God as an absentee One, without any presence here in our cosmos system (universe) and non-personal.
- Christianity is a belief too, but its roots in history is deep and considered as a rational and reasonable belief on the historicity of the Biblical account of Jesus and the resurrection - many of the facts, events and antiquated personalities are both confirmed by archaeology and secular sources.
All are born free
- All are born equal
- All are destined to die
- Each and everyone is given a name
- Each and everbody has the right to choose
- All are accountable to one another
- That is basics to all human constitution
- All are accountable to one another
- Each and everbody has the right to choose
- Each and everyone is given a name
- All are destined to die
- But Some may claim
- All are born free, but some more freer than others
- All are born equal, but some more equal than others
- Each and everyone is given an ID plus a name or nickname name too @alias then a.k.a.
- Each and everyone has the right, some more right than others
- All are destined to die, but some are destined to live as if forever!
- All are accountable, but they want other to be given accounts
This is basically what we do to our own constitution
