[edit] the "back door" of escape
Hong Kong that “river of fragrances” has a colorful history from where many Mainland Chinese escape from isolation and oppression during China’s separation from the West. From the narrow prospective of many old refugees or emigrants, it became known as a “back door” out of darkness to the light of freedom from bondage or slavery. Even today many would-be emigrants still understand the Island as a “back door” to escape to the west and survive. Since 1997 when the Island was ceded to the control of Mainland China, many hundred of thousands of Hong Kong people had pulled up their roots and moved elsewhere all over the world, especially to faraway places where they can enjoy such freedom and survival where they had dare to believe or hope
That Hong Kong returning to China was a mistake (of Britain) and their dream of a small piece of freedom became “paradise lost forever”. Imagine a host of 5 billion people wanting to break out of jail when the opportunities to do so was limited NOT by their own lack of resources but due to the political shackles of oppression under the iron control policies of communism from Chairman Mao to the successors who still ran the lives of the billions. Many may dispute that the Chinese mainlanders are free to go anywhere provided they had the money and the ability to move away. Ironically today it is the west with its fear of the invasion of the billions that had kept shut their own “open doors” to only those few economical rich ones who choose to go that way to another “land of lesser opportunities”. Why do thousands still find the ways to the west via the underground routes ? Just as hundred died in the process, there are those who succeeded were surprised that their lives were not better as they had dreamed to be? Well the stories of many who came back rich still has its allures and attractions for many dreamers who had alway wanted a way "out of China"
[edit] Returning home and their stories?
Although many Chinese mainlanders still believe that "the grass is greener in the West" some smarter ones believes in China own resources and human talents > both still untapped and undreamed of potential wealth yet still to be found. Many learned that tackling the ropes of success lies in "export" of Chinese goods all over the world. No surprisingly with the opening up of world's markets to cheap Chinese goods, the mainlanders are tackling well their ropes to sail the western world without EVER leaving their own SHORES with many successful stories.
In fact there are more returning to China to live out their own dreams of "driving big cars" and living in wealthy mansions!
they had learned the tricks well and harnessing China own resources and talents! Today the Chinese stocks exchanges are flooded with stories of the successful entrepreneurs who had it made..
