Mother is the greatest, next to God! Mother : the embodiment of God's pure Love

[edit] Mother's love

    • A MOTHER’S love knows no bounds and despite a family rift caused by her decision to mortgage a plot of padi field to help her daughter who is facing a drug charge in Australia, 56-year-old Wan Khatijah Wan Hashim believes it is the right thing to do. [[1]]

FIRST CORINTHIANS 13 [CHRISTMAS VERSION] it's translated from the English Bible

  • If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows,

strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator.

  • If I slave away in the kitchen,

baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime: but do not show love to my family, I'm just another cook.

  • If I work at a soup kitchen

carol in the nursing home, and give all that I have to charity; but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing.

  • If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels

and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir's cantata but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

  • Love stops the cooking to hug the child.
  • Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the spouse.
  • Love is kind, though harried and tired.
  • Love does not envy another's home

that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

  • Love does not yell at the kids to get out of the way,

but is thankful they are there to be in the way.

  • Love does not give only to those who are able to give in return; but rejoices in giving to those who cannot.

  • Love bears all things,
  • believes all things,
  • hopes all things, and
  • endures all things.
  • Love never fails.

Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust;

  • but giving the gift of love will endure.

[edit] In praise of my mother

[edit] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwNJCWtWr_I]]

If there is a window to look inside the hearts of mothers you will see the pure image of love as the most perfect imperfections among all created creature of God. When God created man he was exactly the perfect image of the Creator though there is none among all creation to depict that marvelous, wonderful love of God in any way:

Just as the Christian song writer wrote,
the love of God is greater far than …

far than ..We can tell, and if [[2]] You truly understand the spirit of the songwriter’s amazement. He exclaim: with this unique picture of.. ‘ The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.’

And in the refrain. He added:

‘Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.’

Yes indeed this Love is far greater than any humanly possible kind, yet God choose to share with in the image of all mothers.

My mother was never that perfect, Yet like all mothers she had an enduring kind of love for me since I was born as her first child in July 7th 1946. I remembered her in my childhood's image, when she looks at me with her wide open eyes that which I also inherited, and always seemingly saying:

“I love you without qualifications or conditions”

Life was never exactly easy for us as for many people in Singapore during the Japanese occupation. She conceived me during this time. She was a sixteen years old girl without hardly any knowledge of motherhood and all that responsibility entailing. Girls in those days were like domesticated animal or cattle ; to be dispose of as if like the property of owners at whims. Perhaps that baby in her give her the will and purpose to want to live on. My father had ran away to China ‘as if my mother is of lesser importance than his family in China’.

When I was born, my birth record remarked with the midwife’s handwritten note on the father, ‘gone to China’! Who was my father ? : he was never a responsible supporting parent, and my mother like any single mother has the task of taking care of me and see-ing me through life with that little help from my own father.

Mother had to go through some of the roughest time when I was in primary school. She could only work as a laborer in the construction sites. Yes like many women (Sansui women) they all worked under the hot sun all day from morning to late afternoon with only the mid-day breaks for food and drinks. They were uncomplaining kind, and yes, life was a daily toil: ‘ just like the animals that work for the farmers on the rice fields’. It was only a little better for treatments. There were times when the boss cannot afford to pay the workers, and they had to go look for him whenever and wherever they can find that wretched employer. Some of those who owe money had to ran off until those persistent women “give up” looking for them. I pitied the unpaid workers; there were no labor laws as such to deal with sub-contractors who refused to pay their workers. Yes it reminds me of those unpaid foreign workers: there were no labour laws to help them either even to date!

What is mother like? She is closed to eighty plus and still living with my young brother. She looks old as any old senior of that age. She also gained some unhealthy weight and could hardly walk.

When I go to visit her she was always happy to see me. I tried to give some money though she is better off financially provided than I could. I had never been gainfully employed since I studied for the church ministry, though I have a good family with three adults children a working wife and myself: she the sole breadwinner and wonderful provider.

Sometime I wish I can be rich and have all that money to give away to the needy, and so I am never rich though we always have more than enough for our family to live on, and still enough to give away to help others in need. My mother had come to some money when we sold our landed property several years ago : that money was entrusted to my younger brother, and she wanted to live with his family as she helped in taking care of all his children when they were just kids.

My mother is the passion of my soul since I always unceasingly prayed for her. And God had indeed supplied all her needs when I was not able to do so myself! Yet all those years of hardship, we quite easily would have forgotten her except that my mother is really the manifestation of an undying love we have for one and another. Mother day is like any other day though it’s a good time to bother my mother again with my reminder that God love for her is just like that: herself. She just does want to come to the Saviour yet, and my heart still aches. ‘Please pray for me and my mother’.

All Mothers.. created in God's image of Goodness and Love

  • What is Love ?
  • It is a divine attribute (ie. it God's character)

We may not understand God, because none of us have seen G_d ! But the Bible claims to be His true Word. In it, it tells us God is Love! See the great chapter on Love in Paul's Epistle to (First) Corinthian chapter 13

  • Paul's Epistle to (First) Corinthian chapter 13

Three Greek words for "love" are [eros] (erotic love), [phileo] (affection), and [agape], the latter being the word here. "The word was not classical Greek. No ancient classical writer had used it." Yet it was in the Greek language and was used in the Septuagint (LXX). Thus, the Spirit chose a word for Christian love which was free of the sensual overtones of more common Greek words. [Agape] is considered to be one of the grandest words in the New Testament.

Love suffereth long and is kind;

  • love envieth not;
  • love acteth not rashly,

is not puffed up:

  • Doth not behave indecently,
  • seeketh not her own,
  • is not provoked, thinketh no evil;
  • Rejoiceth not in iniquity,
  • but rejoiceth in the truth:
  • Covereth all things,
  • believeth all things,
  • hopeth all things,
  • endureth all things. Love never faileth:
  • And now abide these three, faith, hope, love; but the greatest of these is love.

[edit] Conclusion

  • Relating to this matters of Who am I (Identity} All of us are at a loss unless we can relate to the bond of true love from family .. the greatest is [[mother]s love for all the children
