It is startling to realize (for some Bible believers) that much of God’s Word is not literal. Some of its most precious and important statements simply cannot *be taken as they stand "literally"!. “God is light” is not an actual fact. Literally stated, He is, in the spiritual sphere, in many ways like light in the physical realm. But how much more forceful and beautiful to condense all this into a short and striking sentence, even if it is not strictly correct within the literal sense!

This should open our eyes to realize that not everything in the old Scriptures must be taken literally. In fact some pictures are symbols of the spiritual reality behind -Yes, We should be on our guard when Scripture states that which cannot be "factually correct", and maybe implying just a symbolic representation. Such words are not false, but figurative, typological or shadow of the real found in those spiritual reality expressions.

(According to the Bible Jesus use parables to teach his followers, and parables are just made-up stories - not to be taken as true accounts of persons or ppl in real life, unless the Storyteller himself said, "it's a real account" or just another parable!! e.g.[[2]])

Just as light and time continue to baffle our imaginations and awaken us to mysterious secrets in our Universe, so also is our Creator = God himself!

Is that a fact? Well here's an analogy of light as an example to show the mystery of the deep things of God : (no man alive had seen God at anytime!..declared the writer in the Gospel of John - ( exception: only the God-in Man who came as Jesus)

We see light everyday in the sunlight,
but most atheists <free thinkers> will claim they never have seen God <with their eyes> that's BTW is correct..

Yesterday< Jan.9, 2006> I met one of my old teachers and he simply challenge me to say if I have seen God. I knew he was not saying because he sincerely wanted to know more, but just that he know better and wanted to be respected <which I always do respect him> so with all that arrogance reflecting from him, I simply told him to jump down the high rise, and he will surely see God!

  • The phenomena of light has captivated the best of many minds over the known history and still amazed me to understand what is light. Since Newton laws of gravity in physics, we are still troubled by many unanswered questions about light. What is light?
  • Is it particles<of photons> or simply waves <electromagnetic waves>? or what is light? Great famous scientists< Einstein, Stephen Hawking and others. etc> are still trying to explain some of the phenomena or the ridiculous behaviors of some of their unconfirmed theories about light.. So I will simply try to explain just one: photo-dynamics of light If you understand this theory, you will appreciate God in the Bible who said;

BTW, I don't think man ever walked on the moon(see Neil Armstrong..) however someone else have seen the evidences (make believe ones) such as the moon walk, the photos and even the moon rocks? In order to understand the substance of the following article, it's needed to be added these following comments :
A. We have a finite mind therefore it is impossible to fully grasp what God really is - God is the INFINITE, that is not just difficult to fully grasp God- but almost IMPOSSIBLE for our limited understanding and finite minds.
B. The Universe is a great wonder because none of us has fully understand the intricacies and wonderful way it is, and we are consistently making discoveries everyday
and, that we can see accept and still wonder - that is the same way to really understand God, He is the greatest wonder of all wonders! We must learn to accept that fact!
C. What proofs offered here are simply to help you grasp the incomprehensible INFINITE God. Those who are against the idea had tried to show that God don't exist long before the father of evolution (Charles Darwin) who tried to show to the ppl that the world and its life forms was not created and came out from his theory of the evolutionary process.
Even in our own times, many unscientific (unbelievers) ppl tried to put God in a scientific bottle, but that simply cannot be done! Our little bottled scientific proofs will never turn out to be the God of wonder!
  • Here's an illustration:
It was a heavily rainy dark day and as I was driving the Paya Lebar Road, my screen or the wind shield were getting misty, cloudy and the visibility was almost zero except for the white lines in the center of the road. I did not dare to stop as there were many cars speeding up and down, so I just keep on going, howbeit slowly.

Then suddenly my car enter into Ang Mo Kio and everything became clear and I can see and focus without any difficulty, and so I speed up. Well what was really happening: my car had just entered into a no-rain area and everything became clear and better focus again! It is that way when we sometimes see situations and things around us, just like in history under the sovereignty of God, however, when we really believe - things will be much clearer and we will see God under the correct focus!

Just so, all the negative results obviously sum up a need for positive proofs.
  • N.B. Simple explanation: a priori is a latin word meaning "Be4", and a posteriori "After" i.e. a backside view when looking into others' conclusions!

  • Therefore the first Big question in the proof of God is to be found in the pre-made existing "created" mind. The Mind is an indisputable existing reality upon which all conceptualized ideas originated. Evidently it points to the "Creator" behind the created.
  • The Mind is the great 'Expanse' built or created wthin us. Nobody wanna to accept it as evidence but isn't it obvious that we cannot deny it! They tried and very unsuccessfully,lah !

Monotheistic beliefs alone have assumed God, but it had done little to prove the existing reality of God. He is always "self-evident", "self-existing" and "self-conscious" without any possible dependent attributes outside "Himself". That is the first evidence of a pre-existing God just all other religious beliefs evidenced God. However, Polytheism have done prejudiced with God by making dozen or a great host of smaller gods or goddesses without ideas in regard to reason nor facts, just they have always done so with myths- mythologizes mundane things in the creation and made them all gods and goddesses!

As with the understanding of an Eternal Being whose anthropological "human" attributes are found all over the created Nature , but evidently in accounts of oral and written accounts. That shows the foot prints of the invisible God scattered among all races and peoples all over the ancient and present world.

A Christian Missionary Don Richardson [7] found it as one of the existing redemptive analogies among the tribal head-hunting race. They lived on an isolated Island in Indonesia in Southeast Asia .

Many other cross-cultural missionaries and anthropologists would testify of many discoveries of strange cultural analogies inherent among the isolated tribal people all over the world.

Many of us may notice all that but failed to see the great expanse beyond. How big is the great expanse? These questions lead many to assume of God as in the Sky. Einstein proposes a theory and he tried to explain away the concept of a belief in God, but really beyond time and space, we may theories but our assumptions can only go so far as our rational mind perceive, that is the reason mankind cannot deny the reality of the great expanse. Just when one rule out by limiting those myths , sagas and stories into hearsay category , one cannot deny the existence of unwritten moral laws[[13]] and traditions found among all the existing most primitive tribes.

In contrast one may look for moral laws in the animal world but unable to find much to go on, evidently show the distinctiveness of homo sapiens as a unique race with far deeper perception into the abstract and unseen realm where each individual is endowed with a conscience to live, choose and prevent anarchy.

Perhaps according to the miracles listed in the Gospel accounts, the indisputable fact of a person as Jesus in History especially His Life and Ministry should evidence the direct hand of a special interesting God. Just as behind all Mother Nature are God's foot prints and His thumb prints just as the historical person of Jesus evidenced God's direct special dealing with mankind in general. One need not be a theologian to grasp the fact that the virgin birth and the incarnation are the evidences of an empathetic God who fully understand the natural inclination of fallen mankind with the need for redemption . Just a person may observe all those marks are attached to all created things, even in the fine veins of a small leaf or the distant stars and invisible galaxies and, still refused to acknowledge that the intricate beauty of inherent design prove the invisible hand relating to the marks a wonderful designer.

  • In the well-written records and translations of the Bible just as among people all over, there have been evidences God's intervention in humanity. The Bible offered a foolproof witness to the special hand of God in history with many confirming Archaeological evidences. It is authenticated by numerous many well-known miracles , the innumerable eye-witnesses' accounts, the prophetic fulfillments in historical events and in the earth-shaking and life-changing event of the Resurrection .
  • Perhaps one should note that history is still in the process of being written. Who is really behind those events whether in the distant past or the future? There are solid evidences as God is indeed the God of His-story as in History without human prejudices being involved. History sometimes is understood as repeating itself a sure sign that behind all events is the unseen hand of God.

The human brain, a 3-pound mass of interwoven nerve cells that controls our activity, is one of the most magnificent--and mysterious--wonders of creation. The seat of human intelligence, interpreter of senses, and controller of movement, this incredible organ continues to intrigue scientists and layman alike. Over the years, our understanding of the brain--how it works, what goes wrong when it is injured or diseased--has increased dramatically. However, we still have much more to learn. The need for continued study of the brain is compelling: millions of Americans are affected each year by disorders of the brain ranging from neurogenetic diseases to degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's, as well as stroke, schizophrenia, autism, and impairments of speech, language, and hearing.

Today, these individuals and their families are justifiably hopeful, for a new era of discovery is dawning in brain research. Powerful microscopes, major strides in the study of genetics, and advances in brain imaging devices are giving physicians and scientists ever greater insight into the brain. Neuroscientists are mapping the brain's biochemical circuitry, which may help produce more effective drugs for alleviating the suffering of those who have Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. By studying how the brain's cells and chemicals develop, interact, and communicate with the rest of the body, investigators are also developing improved treatments for people incapacitated by spinal cord injuries, depressive disorders, and epileptic seizures. Breakthroughs in molecular genetics show great promise of yielding methods to treat and prevent Huntington's disease, the muscular dystrophies, and other life-threatening disorders. Research may also prove valuable in our war on drugs, as studies provide greater insight into how people become addicted to drugs and how drugs affect the brain. These studies may also help produce effective treatments for chemical dependency and help us to understand and prevent the harm done to the preborn children of pregnant women who abuse drugs and alcohol. Because there is a connection between the body's nervous and immune systems, studies of the brain may also help enhance our understanding of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

Many studies regarding the human brain have been planned and conducted by scientists at the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Mental Health, and other Federal research agencies. Augmenting Federal efforts are programs supported by private foundation and industry. The cooperation between these agencies and the multidisciplinary efforts of thousands of scientists and health care professionals provide powerful evidence of our nation's determination to conquer brain disease.

To enhance public awareness of the benefits to be derived from brain research, the Congress, by House Joint Resolution 174, has designated the decade beginning January 1, 1990, as the "Decade of the Brain" and has authorized and requested the President to issue a proclamation in observance of this occasion.

Now, Therefore, I, George Bush, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim the decade beginning January 1, 1990, as the Decade of the Brain. I call upon all public officials and the people of the United States to observe that decade with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.
