English-Sankrit online Dictionary[[2]] Sanskrit is an Indo-European classical language of India and a liturgical language of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. It has a position in India and Southeast Asia similar to that of Latin and Greek in Europe, and is a central part of Hindu tradition. It is one of the oldest Indo-European languages in the world with a documented history of 3,500 years and boasts a rich tradition of poetry, literature; as well as scientific, technical, philosophical and religious texts. Sanskrit is one of the 22 official languages of India. It is being revived as a vernacular in the village of Mattur near Shimoga in Karnataka.
Today Sanskrit is mostly used as a ceremonial language in Hindu religious rituals in the forms of hymns and mantras. Its pre-Classical form of Vedic Sanskrit, the liturgical language of the Vedic religion, is one of the earliest attested members of the Indo-European language family, its most ancient text being the Rigveda. It is also the language of Yoga.
When I boy I memorised the three character word of Sun Tze King in the old Hokkien pronunciation <lau cheh or the old style> and todate I have never forgotten those words but then the meanings were unclear, and as I grow older the meaning become more clear and conotates a distinctive philosophy and world view I become more aware. This is BTW how the Brahmans repeated by rote and memory the old Sankrit literatures or holy scriptures some of them as old as 3500 years back closer to the prehistorical times of human written history goto see Upanishads, Vedas etc, etc which are written in the old ancient Sankrit.
- Older and ancient does not made it holy, holiness is by itself an attribute of one whose already holy such as God is Holy
e.g. a drop of my blood or a piece of my skin does not become holy after ten thousand years after I died, but many people connotates such to a tooth or a piece of cloth etc, etc to be holy relics..agreed to diasagreed! see user:alien
