  • meaning :Unspoken but understood.

There were a few cases of reports of famous people caught suddenly with words spoken that they later apologized and regretted. A case in particular was Mel Gibson, when he said something, and the press (news) blows it up and he had to apologize for some explicit remarks that in his normal temper and right senses he would never ever made. That is true of a lot of people, (and to be honest, ALL of us) and sometimes that thin layer of covering hiding our consciousness become suddenly alive.

As a Afro-American, a Latino-American, or an Asian-American, or a white European-American, each one of them will never want to say anything to offend the religious, culture or the color of the skin of other racial groups because it is an "American culture" which explicitly stress the freedom and equality of all fellow Americans, and forbids offending others outside their own grouping by making such callous obviously unacceptable distinctions.

However, those distinctions are pretty obvious (such as the differences in color, culture or creed) and people understood it, but it is taboo-ed or never mentioned as in anyway in the open. It is such explicated understanding, therefore tacitly understood matters. Just as on the reverse, I would never ever wanna talk bad about how we Asian-Americans or Chinese-Americans or Other-Americans feels about the Caucasians, although there are times when I may tacitly agreed with someone when I overheard someone (an Asian-American) saying it in a derogatory manner because he was either in hot temper or drunk. Such feelings are in all of us, so we have to learn to be tolerant. Americans are the most friendly people, and we could do as well when our Singaporean culture is to smile and be friendly.
