- No tea means no Chinese. It is our Chinese culture which needed tea to be a starting point.
Tea has had a major influence on the development of Chinese culture.
According to Chinese tradition, the original cup of tea was not invented but discovered in the course of daily affairs by the simple inhabitants in the hills of Min-nan, who found out the secret of preserving the essence of the green tea leaves. It was rolled and dried and good for keeping until when needed.
In modern China, virtually every dwelling--down to the simplest mud huts--has a set of tea implements for brewing a hot cup of tea. These implements are symbols of welcome for visitors or neighbors. Traditionally, a visitor to a Chinese home will be expected to sit down and drink tea while talking; the Chinese consider having such visits while standing to be uncouth
I call it the root cause of our 5000 years old culture. Actually it's only a drink, ie. I drink hot tea, cup after cups of it without any problem. "Far deeper than the formal trends of common values in Chinese culture is found with simple plant known as tea. It is an essence discovered by the simple farmers while trying to enhance their tasteless water. Tea is found all over scattered in the many parts of China. Without tea, there will not be any real roots to the real cause of the Chinese Culture."
Buddhists believe that the Buddha himself discovered tea<!?>. Another ancient Chinese legend infers that an emperor discovered tea some 5,000 years ago. The emperor, known for his wisdom in the ways of science, believed that the safest way to drink water was by first boiling it. One day during a journey, the emperor noticed that leaves had fallen into his boiling water. The leaves turned the water a light-brown color and gave off an enticing aroma. The ever inquisitive and curious monarch took a sip of the brew and was pleasantly surprised by its excellent flavor.
Regardless of this legend’s veracity, the fact is that the Chinese have enjoyed tea for centuries.
- Scholars hailed the brew as a cure for a variety of ailments. The nobility considered the consumption of good tea as a mark of their status. The common people simply enjoyed its flavor.
- In old Europe tea was a drink for the wealthy rich and nobility!
- Without "tea" there would not be any Chinese nor Chinese culture!

- They may be the most ancient civilization far longer than the Romans or the Egyptians , but without tea, the Chinese Culture would not have a starting point to develop any roots. The barbarian hordes may come, and conquer these people and the lands but to enjoy the friendliness of such simple Chinese farmers and the old traditional culture of Min-nan. Remember no Chinese Culture without tea.
