Changi is a planning area located in the East Region of Singapore. Measuring at approximately 40.6 km2, Changi ranks the 3rd, 34th & 38th in terms of size, population & density respectively. A large portion of this planning area is taken up by Changi Airport, Changi Air Base, Changi Naval Base and is also home to Changi Prison, site of the former Japanese prisoner of war camp during World War II which held Allied prisoners captured in Singapore and Malaysia after Singapore's fall in February 1942.
