On 17 January 2013, this line was announced to be built by 2030. It will be part of the MRT network instead of the initial proposal as a LRT line. It will serve West Coast, Tengah and Choa Chu Kang, besides just Jurong when originally announced in 2001.<ref name="JRL1"/>

  • Train services between Tanjong Rhu and Bayshore stations (Thomson–East Coast Line Stage 4) will begin on Sunday, 23 June 2024. Free rides are available between those stations on Friday, 21 June 2024. Please refer here for more information.
