Temasek Polytechnic (TP) is a polytechnic located in Tampines. As an industry-oriented alternative to a broader based junior college education, polytechnic graduates in Singapore are sought after for work or many continue to complete university degrees. Polytechnics admit majority of its students after secondary school which is after 10 years of formal education. Diplomas in a specialised area of study are awarded after completing 3 years of studies. Established on April 6, 1990, the campus of the institute sits on a 30 hectare plot near the Bedok Reservoir in the eastern part of Singapore.

History[edit]

In June 1989, the Minister of Education announced that a 3rd polytechnic is being considered. In April 1990, TP was established. The institute was originally located at the premises of Baharuddin Vocational Institute’s at Stirling Road and the vacated premises of Raffles Institution at Grange Road. Due to increased enrolment and the introduction of new courses, three more campuses at Kim Seng, Bukit Merah and Portsdown Road were acquired to house the institutes' student population.

In September, 1995, the permanent campus for Temasek Polytechnic was completed and it moved to its current location in the town of Tampines.

Temasek Polytechnic underwent a logo redesign in 2012, sporting a fresh new look to reflect the vibrancy of the school.

The TP Auditorium Foyer began construction in 2010 and was completed in 2013.
