Stansfield College, founded in 1993 is a long-standing private higher education institution and a trusted provider of the University of London International degree and diploma programmes in Singapore. Stansfield College, previously known as “Stansfield School of Business” was founded in 1993 by Mr Kannappan Chettiar as a sole proprietorship and approved by the [[Ministry of Education]] as a private institution on 15 July 1993. Mr Chettiar started Stansfield College from humble beginnings with a loan of $20,000. With a strong determination to provide equal educational opportunities, Mr Chettiar hired 6 British expatriates in 1993, 4 of whom had PhD qualifications to teach in Singapore (an approach unheard of especially in 1993 from a private institution). This resulted in a rapid and consistent expansion of the school over the subsequent years. Since 1995, Stansfield College has been recognised by the University of London and its lead college, London School of Economics (LSE) to conduct the Diploma in Economics Programme in Singapore. It also has recognition to conduct the Diploma in Law programme. | |||
In 2002, the College’s Chief Learning Officer & Chairman, Mr Kannappan Chettiar was selected as one of the Top 10 Entrepreneurs of the Year. A Rotary Singapore-ASME award, it is the oldest award in Singapore that honours entrepreneurs who have established and sustained a successful and profitable business. Stansfield was also awarded the ‘Enterprise 50’ and ranked no 32 amongst the most enterprising organizations, in the same year. As the Chairman, he leads the academic team based on his personal experience of having studied for the University of London LL.B degree as an international student. Mr Chettiar has several other degrees from reputed Universities including a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Michigan State University and a Master of Laws from the [[National University of Singapore]]. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has won a number of awards and accolades including being the finalist in the Rotary-ASME Top 10 Entrepreneur of the Year 2002 and the award winner for the SICCI-DBS Singapore Indian Entrepreneur award 2005. He has been guest and motivational speaker for the local universities, polytechnics and other professional bodies in Singapore conducting talks on entrepreneurship and management excellence. Mr Chettiar was a Chairman of an Advisory Committee in a local secondary school. He is also a trained SQC Assessor and has led assessment teams to conduct SQC audits of several large organisations including Keppel Shipyard and the Coastal Command (COSCOM). | |||
Mdm Cenobia Majella is the Principal of the College and has been with the College since its founding in 1993. Prior to joining the College, she worked as a teacher in government schools in Singapore and holds a teaching Diploma from the National Institute of Education. Ms Sandra Yeo is the College’s Academic Director and is responsibile for managing the academic quality of courses taught at Stansfield. Ms Yeo commenced her teaching career in 1994 with the College and grew through the ranks within the College as its top faculty and lecturer in the areas of Economics and related subjects.
