The General Certificate of Education (GCE) is an academic qualification conferred to students in Singapore.

History

The GCE was originally introduced in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in 1951. Under colonial rule, the GCE was offered to Singaporean students. The O-levels were, in particular, made compulsory for all secondary four students.
