SBS Transit City Direct Service 672 provides residents of Hougang, who rely on the rail network and feeder buses, with a direct travel alternative to the Central Business District (CBD). This service incorporates an express sector between Hougang Avenue 7 and Central Business District via Tampines Road, Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE), and Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE).

It is the 68^th bus service to benefit from the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) (82^nd bus service introduced under the programme), and the 22^nd peak-hour unidirectional city direct bus service introduced. It also benefit from the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP) (3^rd bus service extended under the programme).

Evening peak-hour departures will be brought forward to the afternoon on the eves of Christmas, New Year, and Chinese New Year. Revised timing will be announced closer to the respective dates by the operator.
