History

Before (and during) the erection of Fajar Station, residents of this part of Bukit Panjang Town were served by a bus service that called on the bus stop just next to the Fajar Station, namely the late TIBS Bus number 179. This bus brought passengers around Bukit Panjang Town and towards the Choa Chu Kang MRT train station where they could transfer easily to the train system mentioned.

TIBS Bus number 179 has since been axed; Fajar Station, thus the Bukit Panjang LRT Line, now caters to the residents living in the vicinity of the station and still brings passengers to the Choa Chu Kang MRT train station.

Vicinity

Fajar station serves the residents of HDB flats (Apartments) located along the northern part of Bukit Panjang Ring Road. The station is conveniently situated right next to Fajar Neighbourhood Shopping Centre, catering to the needs of residents living near-by, be it the market, food, body wellness, etc. It is also a stone's throw away from Chi Hock Keng (Buddhist) Temple.

An open-space court is right next to (and across the main Fajar Road) where one can find residents from all walks of life utilizing the big concrete space for recreational needs and sometimes, the space can be converted to cater for big community events or festival-related entertainment such as small scale concerts, Chinese New Year celebrations, and the like...
