Heartlander is a term used to refer to a certain group of people from a very specific socioeconomic background.

What constitutes a heartlander is not easily defined; commentators have said that it is easier to define what a heartlander is not. The term obviously does not refer to those who live in HDB council flats, as not all HDB dwellers have the characteristics of a heartlander.
