The General Certificate of Education (GCE) is an academic qualification conferred to students in Singapore.
History[edit]
The GCE was originally introduced in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in 1951. Under colonial rule, the GCE was offered to Singaporean students. The O-levels were, in particular, made compulsory for all secondary four students.
