The Mandai Depot is a full maintenance MRT depot.
Located at a 32-hectare site (1) bounded by Mandai Road, Seletar Expressway and Lor Lada Hitam, it is within the Mandai Agrotechnology Park.(2) and has the capacity to stable up to 90 trains.(3)
First announced by LTA on 16 June 2011, construction of the depot would commence at the end of 2012 and is expected to be an underground depot - the third in Singapore. As a result of the construction, the farm 'Orchidville' that previously occupied the site was acquired.(4) Prior to the acquiration, Orchidville was the largest orchid farm in Singapore.
It will serve the upcoming Thomson Line as the Operation Control Centre and provide stabling and maintenance facilities for the line's rolling stock.
