The school's vision is "To be a vibrant learning community - inspiring personal discovery".
Innovation and Enterprise is a life style in the school. Students build their fitness and resilience through rugged outdoor activities and annual camps which incorporate learning journeys and CIP. Learning goes beyond the classrooms. All students participate in a 5-day camp. In addition, mountain trekking out of Singapore is organized to places like Belumut, Panti, Ophir, Mulu and Mt Everest Base Camp. Student Councillors are also selected to attend a 5-day Outward Bound Course. Loyang Secondary School emerged as semi-finalists in Arena 2007 (MediaCorp Inter-School Debates Competition).

Campus SuperStar (Season 2)
A Secondary 1 student, Shawn Tok triumphed over 4,500 contestants to be crowned the overall champion of the second season of Campus SuperStar 《校园SuperStar》, a spin-off from the wildly successful Project SuperStar 《绝对 SuperStar》. At 13, Shawn is the youngest contestant to win the title of this singing talent show for teens on Channel U.
A hot favorite from the start of the competition, Shawn was edged out in the earlier rounds. But this cute young boy has won so many fans that he returned back into the ring in the Revival Round.
Despite being the youngest of the lot, Shawn Tok is arguably one of the strongest contestants, taking into account both praises by the judges and the spontaneous rounds of loud applause and cheers he got for each of his performance.
Immediately following his win, this young boy was selected to front the latest TV campaign for MediaCorp. He also caught the eyes of local producer and made his acting debut in a telemovie God of Fortune 《天降运财》 which was released in early 2008.
Shawn Tok 卓轩正, from Loyang Secondary School, Season 2's youngest competitor at a small age of 13, is well-received by the judges and received commendable scores of 24 and 25 out of 30 from the judges in Quarter Final 1A 4 June 2007 and Revival Round on 16 July 2007, respectively. Despite his body size typical of that of a child, he is equipped with a cute image, backed with a strong, powerful voice. All 3 judges of Season 2 have high hopes for him.
The Arena
The school competed in the televised debating competition The Arena, shown on Mediacorp Channel 5. Loyang's team defeated Raffles Institution in the opening round and Xinmin Secondary School in the quarter-finals, before losing to Hwa Chong Institution in the semi-finals. (The competition was won by the United World College of South East Asia, which beat Hwa Chong in the final).
