===TEL3/Diversions affecting alternative travel methods===

Hi admin, I am back from hiatus due to a busy schedule and I will be working on more stations very soon!
==Station layout==

Looking at the recent NDP & F1 diversions of this year, and making a study on various diversions during pre-COVID days, I would like to suggest whether it would be possible if a notice on bus diversions can be done on certain Alternative Travel Method pages (eg. Esplanade, Bayfront, Chinatown) where diversions are frequent? In addition, I will also try to rearrange the priority methods where needed so as to reduce inconvenience for passengers when train disruptions and bus diversions occur at the same time. I look forward to hearing your feedback.
Looks like a perfect concept! Very simple and straight to the point with just the icons in place.

At the same time, I would also like to enquire what are the sections for splitting the TEL stations once TEL3 opens.
Was this inspired from the elevator diagrams that appear at certain stations eg. Somerset, Chinatown? I will try and see whether I have the skill to do a replication.

Thanks and regards!
How would this turn out if it were a transfer station?

===Travel Time (East to West)===
In the meantime, once the TEL4 updates are done, I will be doing massive work on the locality maps after figuring out everything with the Bayfront map as the new standard that I finished up on. 1 month tearing down drafts, revisiting the colour palletes, redoing everything from scratch feels so worth it after delivering a promising result.

Yes, without any doubt we can give it a go, since 88 is a service present in Pasir Ris Int, and there are a handful of bus services 3/89/109 heading to TPE Punggol, which would be much efficient than a 58 to Kaki Bukit. We eliminate 58 since it takes the longest, and for 81 I will await your take for it. Then for going NSL stations we can put 168 to Woodlands alongside the option of 858 and 969 to Khatib twds the Jurong East direction, that way the crowd dispersal would be more effective. Pasir Ris bound I think we just put 858 969 only bah, and for 39 it would be up to the commuters to explore.
A question that still sticks to my mind is the definition of walking distance by the authorities. When I looked at each sample map and measured the distance to the boundary of the 10 min circle, they defined it as 450m-600m, with 500m being the most common out of most new locality maps.

When the Pasir Ris page is modified it would have similar travel patterns as to those in Tampines and Changi Airport. Feel free to edit as much as you can too!
Do we still proceed with our definition of 1 min=80m for walking?

Side note, I will try update as many stations as I can, while for creating non-TEL stations (including transfer stations) that have TEL transfers, I have also published them in the talk pages while TEL3 hasn't opened. Expected area of scope would be NSL (as you have already seen) and many other CBD stations. Thanks and regards.
Thanks and Regards

===RE:81/Travel Time===
=== Reply on Walking ===
Noted about your response on 81. I will make the necessary adjustments.

Travel time would take a lot of work, but we can give it a go! Because some of the alternative routes will eventually takes a few extra more mins, so it would be more informative.
Noted explanation. We will proceed with 1minute = 80 metres. I have also discovered that besides Google Maps, you can also use the ruler function of OneMap to help map out the easiest walking paths.

Another thing I had in my bucket list for alternative pages was an exit number/alphabet beside the bus stop, but I am not sure if it works because most MRT stops already have labelled the exit names on them.
I am thinking of a concept of walking such that it can be in this format

===Re: Exits===
Total: xxx m
1. Walk
2. Turn
3. Keep walking
A round up to the nearest 5 minutes is a good gauge, especially when there are traffic conditions/walking speed that may give variations. I would agree to that.
If the walking instructions are too much, especially between stations, then we can continue putting the most common walking paths the form of W2T diagrams. However, where necessary, might resort to put the station locality map in the walking instructions since the nearby stations are reflected OR when barrier free access requirements are not fulfilled. Barrier free access is still needed, as per your reminder 2 years ago. Raffles Place diagram was only half useful.

However, for rail transfer between lines, I believe there is more room to study about it. Because I think what we have never looked into is the walking distance between the lines, as well as how different stations sync their train arrivals, which translates to different station layouts. Base on my personal experience at MacPherson and Chinatown, where the transfer platforms are close to one another, some of the train arrivals sync together.
Irregardless of the choice we make, I will continue to make custom W2T/walking instruction maps, especially for Shenton Way's and Tanjong Rhu's part, which in turn can do away lengthy sentences into short phrases.

In addition, when it comes peak hours, the frequency of trains may be shorter until one can get onto a train easily, just as the examples of the NSEWL transfer stations that you have stated. On the opposite hand during off peak hours, if one cannot get onto a train/bus that smoothly, this might take more than 10 mins waiting time. So I do not think an average of 10 min waiting time is sufficient enough for a disclaimer. I am not enough of a train expert but I would like to understand from your perspective whether my thoughts make sense.
Edit: Just as I was about to write a complaint on the unavailability of the Bugis - Jalan Besar walking map, I keyed in the station codes and they actually put it up recently without me saying a word. But their diagram passes through closed off areas on NSC construction...

I would strongly support the inclusion of escalators and lifts in the station layout so that people from all walks of life can find clearer and better barrier free access! :)

Hi.

===Re: Walking distance between two nearby stations===
I will leave the fleet size as 4 for now. As far as I know they only have 4 buses scheduled with 5 AP duties every day.

Yes, I had also thought about walking between two stations before. Same had applied to walking from Marina Bay to Bayfront. However, my main concern is getting people to have a familiar sense of direction, especially those with poor navigation skills. Coincidentally, I had one real life experience where I once had tried to explain to an elderly person how to walk from CPF Maxwell to Outram Park where SGH is at, and it was extremely frustrating that I eventually showed the way under my guidance. That has been one tricky part, you know HAHAHAHAHA. As you know, Maxwell is one of those places with poor bus connections, not even one to Outram, so it has been something I had tried to figure out. I would consider it lucky that Service 80 was amended to detour around Cantonment in Sengkang direction, at least something to connect to Maxwell with a direct transfer!

I thank you for the message. Just to put it on record, I have no issues with the revert, which I find completely justified (as you've laid out on the false impression part), and I would've removed/changed the message as well. However, the message that Alphabetlorefan1 said "bus 858 DDs are cameo" was an erroneous one, as they are not cameos, which you've also recognized that there are downroute slots. Hence I felt there was a need to correct the user so as to prevent any misunderstandings in the future.

Hi Supernutorcrazy,

Is it OK to add info of train deployments (including TRNs and their sequences), acronyms legend and train fleet info (similar to what's done for buses)?
