Hi.

My suggestion to improve public transport in Singapore[edit]

Type/Service Changes & Reasoning*
MRT/LRT Replace all faregate to wide-aisle faregate
SKLRT & PGLRT Installation of Train Arrival TV screen / LED panel indicating the next and subsequent train arrival.
ITHs Allow alighting activities for loop service to be done at boarding berth (Especially Woodlands Int) as buses will queue before entering the ITH just because of lack of alighting berth. This is especially so for Woodlands ITH as 912 bendies will layover at alighting berth instead of roadside, thereby reducing the number of alighting berth from 3 to 1.
BCM New BCM clauses for all operators:
  • Bendies are only allowed to ply on Feeders service and services plying Changi Airport PTB.
  • A single deckers or bendies must ply on any Feeder services at an interval of not more than 20 minutes during off peak and 15 minutes during peak hours.
  • No 2 consecutive bendies are to be deployed at any service during peak hours.
  • No 2 consecutive double deckers are to be deployed on feeder service during off-peak hours.

Reasons

  • Prevention of abuse of deployment on bendies on trunk services.
  • Prevention of bendy from causing a jam to bus interchanges (consecutive bendies during peak hours)
  • Make public transport more inclusive to the elderly to minimise elderly from falling on buses, especially the upper deck, for commutes within the town (single decker or bendies within reasonable amount of waiting time, no 2 consecutive double deckers on feeder services during off-peak hours).
M variants
  • Allow transfer between the supplement variants and parent service as a single journey if transfer bus stop is the same. I.e. Boarding 53 from Blk 528C/Pasir Ris Stn, transfer to 53M at Paya Lebar Girls' Sch and alight at Blk 209 is consider as 1 journey instead of 2 separate journey.
  • Allow transfer between the supplement variants and parent feeder service as a single trip if transfer bus stop is the same. I.e. Boarding 240 and transfer to 240M should count as 2 trips, but the fare for it should be capped at 3.2km in total.
27 Amend to serve Changi Airport T4.
39 Bus Stop changes at Jalan Kayu to facilitate easier exit of Jalan Kayu roundabout. Bus heading to Tampines stop at Aft Seletar Camp G instead. Bus heading to Yishun stop at Bef Seletar Camp G instead.
53 Amend to serve Changi Airport T4.
168 Bus Stop changes at Jalan Kayu to facilitate easier exit of Jalan Kayu roundabout. Bus heading to Bedok stop at Aft Seletar Camp G instead. Bus heading to Woodlands stop at Bef Seletar Camp G instead.
179A Renumber to 179X to prevent confusion with Short-Working Trip, following the format for ‘Express Feeder’. 179e is out of option as Concession Pass isn't valid for express service given that majority of the commuters are students.
181 Renumber to 344 & convert to feeder service.
181M Renumber to 344M & convert to feeder service.
240 Renumber to 340.
240M Renumber to 340M
241 Renumber to 341.
242 Renumber to 342.
243G/W Renumber to 343G/W.
307A Renumber to 307T.
307T Buses leaving Choa Chu Kang Int will terminate at Opp Choa Chu Kang Stn whereas buses leaving Opp Choa Chu Kang Stn will terminate at Choa Chu Kang Int.
502A Renumber to 502M.
518A Renumber to 518M.
800 Withdraw.
805 Withdraw.
813 Introduce by merging the former 800 and 805 routes to improve connectivity between Khatib residents and Chong Pang, and from Chong Pang to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, thereby helps to reduce the crowdness on 807.
858/B Bus Stop changes at Jalan Kayu to facilitate easier exit of Jalan Kayu roundabout. Bus heading to Changi Airport stop at Aft Seletar Camp G instead. Bus heading to Woodlands stop at Bef Seletar Camp G instead.
Amended to serve Changi Airport T4.
902 Renumber to 169M, converted into basic trunk service.
Operates by operator of Sembawang-Yishun bus package.
912 Shorten to loop at Woodlands St 41 (no one would bother taking it to Woodlands Train Checkpoint due to distance (it is about twice as long as compared to 856/911)).
912A Renumber to 912T. Bus branching of 912 and its SWT is a common issue as SMRT & LTA treated 912A/B as separate service from 912, leading to high demand for 912A/B and 0 demand for 912.
912B
912M Converted to a full day service, running at 20 - 30 mins frequency and extended to ply Woodlands Avenue 3, Woodlands Street 31 before plying original route back to Woodlands Int.
913M Amended to ply the former West Loop towards Woodlands Centre Rd instead as more commuters would rather take and go Johor Bahru than residents taking from Marsiling to Marsiling Mall. The lost connectivity between Woodlands Ave 1 and Marsiling Mall could be made by integrating into 912M as above.
960e Withdrawn. The express sector from Stevens to Marsiling can be replaced by TEL/NSL which is much cheaper than 960e. Travelling time is similar.
965/T Amended to loop at Sengkang East Way (Sengkang Stn), Sengkang Square before heading back to Woodlands, skipping Sengkang Int and Blk 240 along Compassvale Road.
975 Shortern to loop at Lor Rusuk, as the demand between Lorong Rusuk and Lim Chu Kang Ter is low even with the current frequency of approx 10 mins. Alternate bus departing Bukit Panjang Int will perform 975 and 975M.
975M Introduced to ply 975 current route, with same operating hours as 975. Alternate bus departing Bukit Panjang Int will perform 975 and 975M.
