Saw Phaik Hwa
Saw Phaik Hwa was a Chief Executive Officer of SMRT from December 2002 to 6 January 2012. She is the one who says 'People may choose to board the trains, is whether they choose to board to' in 2009. She had 19 years of experience in DFS since 1983. As she is born in 1957, she was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is also the taiji practitioner.
On 4 June 2010, Ms Saw Phaik Hwa had been apologised over the security breach as pushing the blame for the Changi Depot vandalism incident. Sooner, she pushed the blame over the Bishan Depot security breach on August 2011, and claimed that she wanted to resign.
Her worst scenario is that on 15 December 2011, she wanted to consider resigning if necessary because of the massive MRT breakdowns. However, on 18 December 2011, about 80 people gathered at the Speaker's Corner at Hong Lim Park, displaying banners such as 'Saw Phaik Hwa Must Resign Today/Saw Must Resign Today', on which they called for the resignation of Saw Phaik Hwa as the CEO of SMRT.
Ms Saw's resigned as CEO of SMRT in the midst of public anger over two breakdowns in train services that caused commuters to be stranded. These breakdowns were the worst since the transit system was started in 1987.
Saw Phaik Hwa is currently the new CEO of Auric Pacific, specializing in Delifrance, Sunshine and Topone, including the best-selling Food Junction.
