Colour of Hope is a 2007 telemovie produced by JTeam, starring Huang Po Ju of I Not Stupid fame. This was Huang's last showbiz role; he has since returned to his native Taiwan.

Plot[edit]

The prologue introduces the seven colours of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, violet. Each colour is associated with a different virtue. Orange is associated with warmth, happiness and love.

Liang Jiahui is secretly in love with his classmate Yang Yang, but due to his inferiority complex, he doesn't dare to make a move on her. His best friend, Liu Chen Guang lives a happier life; he has a mother and a girlfriend, Xiaoxi who love him very much.

Cheng Guang is unexpectedly killed in a car accident, shortly after the beginning of the movie. His mother, Xiaoxi and Jiahui find it hard to cope after his death, and Jiahui mopes around at home having lost his only friend and confidante.

Orange light, curious about the human world, assumes the form of Cheng Guang and attempts to cheer Jiahui up. Xiaoxi unexpectedly comes across Orange, and assumes Cheng Guang has miraculously returned from the dead. Jiahui cautions Orange to keep up the guise of Cheng Guang for now. With the encouragement and help of Orange, he confesses his love to Yang Yang, and she reacts positively.

Xiaoxi soon contracts a terminal disease that causes her immense pain and weakness. Orange realises he has fallen in love with her, and wants to heal her despite the warnings of his superior, Purple light. Orange goes ahead, knowing he will lose his strength and even disappear completely. However, he is shown to return, still in the form of Cheng Guang, at the very end of the film. Jiahui has also lost his inferiority complex in getting together with Yang Yang.
