Megan Zheng

Megan Zheng Zhiyun, (also known as Megan Tay, Simplified Chinese: 郑智允), is a Singaporean actress. She is most notable for her role as Chew Seow Fang in the 2003 film Homerun, for which she garnered a Golden Horse Award.

Awards[edit]

For her role in Homerun, Zheng was one of four considered for the Best New Performer Award at the 40th Golden Horse Awards. One of the other nominees, Ariel Lin, was subsequently disqualified after it was revealed that she had previously made an unreleased movie.[1] Homerun was also nominated for Best Theme Song.[2][3] At the awards ceremony, Zheng and Wang Baoqiang (of Blind Shaft) were named co-winners of the Best New Performer award, making her the first Singaporean to win a Golden Horse Award.[4][5][6]

Raintree Pictures' CEO Daniel Yun commented that Zheng's achievement "puts Singapore film-making on the Asian map",[6] while Dr Wong Lung Hsiang, secretary of the Singapore Film Society, described it as "a landmark for the Singapore film industry".[4]

Personal life[edit]

Zheng studied at Jurong Primary School and Fairfield Methodist Secondary School.[7][5][8] She is a fan of Lord of the Rings, Legolas and Gunbound.[7][4]Megan is currently a Business Management Studies student at SIM.[9]
