Wushu in Singapore
The originate of Wushu in Singapore is not clear, but official records of wushu organisation can be trace back as early to 19 century (see Singapore Pugilistic Community).
Wushu is widely practise by Singaporean of all ages, ranging from young kids doing sports wushu to senior citizen doing tai'chi exercise in community centre/clubs.
There is also a adequate amount of traditional wushu followers that focus on the core spirit of traditional wushu system from families (家, jiā), sects (派, pai) or schools (門, men) of various wushu styles.

The first official registered wushu organisation is Singapore Chin Woo Athletic Association (新加坡精武体育会), established in 9th August 1922, currently located at No.90, Neil Road.
1920年，上海中央精武会派遣五使：陈士超、陈公哲、黎慧僧、罗啸嗷、叶书田下南洋宣传精武精神，适逢中国北方大水灾，于后假麦士威路（Maxwell Road）和丹戎巴葛路（Tanjong Pagar）交界处的华英剧院（多次易名后改为今之青年教会场所）赈灾义演，并放映精武各派拳术之影片，极受社会人士赞赏。 本地侨商麦仲尧、甘清泗、林推迁、林义顺、林文庆、伍璜、李铁岑、黄兆圭等诸君发起组织精武会。在诸热心家的结合，共同发起，逐于1922年8月9日获政府核准注册成立。根据1982－1983年《新加坡全国社团大观》一书记录，本会是新加坡历史最悠久的武术团体。[1]

Development[edit]
Wushu is spreading roots in Singapore local schools. Since 2005 when Wushu was included as a CCA Colour Award Sport, students' participation in Wushu has increased quite remarkably. In 2007, 85 primary schools with 812 students participated in the National Inter-Primary School Competition, and 82 secondary schools with 830 students took part in the National Inter-Secondary School Competition.
