Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CRRC Qingdao Sifang CT251 will be the first generation of trains running on the Thomson–East Coast Line. These trains are currently manufacture by Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CRRC Qingdao Sifang under the Contract T251.
History
Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CRRC Qingdao Sifang was awarded Contract T251 in 2014 at a cost of $749.8 million for the construction of 364 passenger cars.[1]
Fleet Numbering
The car numbers of the trains range from 2001x to 2091x, where x depends on the carriage type.
- The first digit identifies the position of the car from the closest end of the train; where ‘1’ represents first car, ‘2’ represents second car, ‘3’ represents third car and ‘4’ represents fourth car.
- (Example) Passenger Vehicle 2005 would consist of 4 cars with serial number 20051, 20052, 20053 and 20054 respectively.
- Depending on the direction of travel, the sequence may be reversed.
