== Re: Rail Bridging Services ==

===Rail Wiki Expansion===

Hi Supernutorcrazy,
Hi Supernutorcrazy,

I completely understand your doubts as Rail Bridging Services are something that most people do not get to experience on a regular basis. Hence, the routing and details are generally not widely disclosed. <br>
Is it OK to add info of train deployments (including TRNs and their sequences), acronyms legend and train fleet info (similar to what's done for buses)?<br>
Data can be obtained from here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PMuCeF31etWzPv_U42qMaFoHvYwDpnkSWHgjvuuTxdg/edit<br>
All data collated in the above document are based on spottings and observations from fellow enthusiasts.

For the Downtown Line, I can reassure you that all DTL Rail Bridging Services will call at Dhoby Ghaut Stn for the purpose of ease of access to better alternative transport connectivity for commuters. This is the same for the 2nd time that the DTL Rail Bridging Service calls at Bugis Stn towards Expo as well. However, such information is normally not publicised at MRT Stations so I can understand the reason for your doubts.<br>
I hope you will support us to make these valuable information more accessible to all. Thank you.

All MRT Lines have an official allocated operator for its respective Rail Bridging Service. However, with the recent amount of rail works involving the closure of the MRT Stations and operation of shuttle services which may not be operated by the official allocated operator in place of the MRT, other operators now have the ability to operate certain sectors of MRT lines that they do not officially operate on. For example, during the Kallang MRT accident on the EWL, Go-Ahead Singapore was the aloocated operator for that sector which operated accordingly as planned. However, there was 1 SMRT bus that was pulled over as well. This is because the SMRT Bus Captain that was pulled over was previously trained for the EWL Rail Bridging Service. Hence, while there is an official allocated operator, there is still the possibility of other operators roping in to offer their assistance.<br>

For the LRT, it is pretty self-explanatory so I will not go into that. For the CCL, it is fully operated by SMRT Buses. For the NEL and DTL, it is fully operated by SBS Transit. For the NSL, the regular bridging services are fully operated by SMRT Buses. However, its Ang Mo Kio - Serangoon special Crossline service is operated by SBS Transit. For the EWL, it is a little more of a special case and this is because SMRT has contracted out its Rail Bridging Services to other bus operators. Hence, I made the table to highlight the specific allocated operators for each sector accordingly for easy reference. What is more unique is that certain special Rail Bridging Services are co-operated by 2 bus operators.<br>
==Station layout==

I feel that assigning the official operator is still better as nobody is also for certain on which bus operator is trained for which Rail Bridging Service and may not add colours to the information alongside it.<br>
Looks like a perfect concept! Very simple and straight to the point with just the icons in place.

Hope all this information is helpful and answers your queries.
Was this inspired from the elevator diagrams that appear at certain stations eg. Somerset, Chinatown? I will try and see whether I have the skill to do a replication.

Thank you.
How would this turn out if it were a transfer station?

Hi,
A question that still sticks to my mind is the definition of walking distance by the authorities. When I looked at each sample map and measured the distance to the boundary of the 10 min circle, they defined  it as 450m-600m, with 500m being the most common out of most new locality maps.

May I ask why was I blocked just today after I edited to add the bus stop code for Boon Lay Stn?
Do we still proceed with our definition of 1 min=80m for walking?

Thanks and regards,
Thanks and Regards

Noted explanation. We will proceed with 1minute = 80 metres. I have also discovered that besides Google Maps, you can also use the ruler function of OneMap to help map out the easiest walking paths.

I am thinking of a concept of walking such that it can be in this format

== Rail Bridging Bus Deployments ==
Total: xxx m <br>
1. Walk <br>
2. Turn <br>
3. Keep walking <br>

Hi,
If the walking instructions are too much, especially between stations, then we can continue putting the most common walking paths the form of W2T diagrams. However, where necessary, might resort to put the station locality map in the walking instructions since the nearby stations are reflected OR when barrier free access requirements are not fulfilled. Barrier free access is still needed, as per your reminder 2 years ago. Raffles Place diagram was only half useful.

Thanks for the clarifications. I would also like to add that the boarding point for Shuttle 21 at Punggol Temp Int is at Berth B5, not Berth B2. Berth B2 is used for LRT Bridging Services, thanks.
Irregardless of the choice we make, I will continue to make custom W2T/walking instruction maps, especially for Shenton Way's and Tanjong Rhu's part, which in turn can do away lengthy sentences into short phrases.

Edit: Just as I was about to write a complaint on the unavailability of the Bugis - Jalan Besar walking map, I keyed in the station codes and they actually put it up recently without me saying a word. But their diagram passes through closed off areas on NSC construction...

Hi.
Hi.

The above mentioned user has wrote in to my talk page to request for an exemption for his friend who wants to join the sgWiki community using a bus registration number as the username.
I will leave the fleet size as 4 for now. As far as I know they only have 4 buses scheduled with 5 AP duties every day.

I have a friend who want to create an account for this wiki using a bus rego. However, since bus rego account names are banned here, he wants me to testify that he is not a disruptive editing user (per Supernutorcrazy's reply to SimonLim88 last time, https://sgwiki.com/index.php?title=User_talk:SimonLim88&diff=next&oldid=493514). As such, can I ask, will exemption be granted if a known user on the wiki can testify that a newly created account on this wiki with a banned username is not a disruptive account/an account created solely for the disturbance of peace on this wiki?'
I thank you for the message. Just to put it on record, I have no issues with the revert, which I find completely justified (as you've laid out on the false impression part), and I would've removed/changed the message as well. However, the message that Alphabetlorefan1 said "bus 858 DDs are cameo" was an erroneous one, as they are not cameos, which you've also recognized that there are downroute slots. Hence I felt there was a need to correct the user so as to prevent any misunderstandings in the future.

Update: Thanks for the clarification, I will contact my friend.

Station layout[edit]

Looks like a perfect concept! Very simple and straight to the point with just the icons in place.

Was this inspired from the elevator diagrams that appear at certain stations eg. Somerset, Chinatown? I will try and see whether I have the skill to do a replication.

How would this turn out if it were a transfer station?
