Yishun is located in the northern part. It is commonly associate with its HDB Town and planning area. It is bounded in a clockwise direction by Sungei Simpang Kiri (waterbody), Yishun Avenue 8, Lower Seletar Reservoir, Yishun Avenue 1, and Sembawang Road.

The name Yishun (Chinese: 义顺) is the Mandarin Chinese transliteration of "Nee Soon", named after Lim Nee Soon (Chinese: 林義順), a well-known industrialist who amassed his wealth through rubber and pineapple plantations in the area.[1]

Regions

Yishun Town Centre

The Yishun Town Centre is located in the middle of Yishun, where the NS13Yishun station and Yishun Bus Interchange is located. It is mainly based on the Yishun Central (Yishun subzone) of the URA Master Plan.

Chong Pang

Chong Pang, also known as Chong Pang City, is popular for its wet markets and amenities. Despite its small size, the region is mainly based on the Yishun West (Yishun subzone) of the URA Master Plan.

Khatib

Khatib is located south of Yishun, and unlike the planning area Khatib (Yishun subzone), local would more associate this together with Yishun South (Yishun subzone).

Yishun East

Yishun East is a more recently developed region in Yishun, with most flat built around the 2010s, especially with the eastmost region. It is the least connected region by transportation in Yishun. It is based of Yishun East (Yishun subzone) and Northland (Yishun subzone).
