2002 train disruption

On 21 October 2002, the entire Bukit Panjang LRT service was shut down at 6.38 am after a disruption caused by a dislodged train wheel, which led to the power system being crippled between Bukit Panjang and Senja stations. Partial LRT services only resumed at 6.30 pm on 24 October 2002 and full services at 12 pm on 26 October 2002.

For the first time in history, LRT services were free on 27 October 2002 as a way of compensating passengers of the inconvenience.(1)
