SBS Transit CityBuzz Services
Introduction
SBS Transit CityBuzz Services were introduced on 13th December 2004 and it runs on 3 key routes with selected key stops around Singapore's popular tourist destinations, mainly the Orchard Route (C1), the Chinatown Route (C2) & the Little India Route (C3). The Esplanade (Stop 1), The Pan Pacific Hotel (Stop 15 [for C1 & C3]) & The Oriental Singapore (Stop 16) were used as a transfer point for CityBuzz Services.
These services used to operate from 10am to 10pm daily and charges at a flat fare of $1.00 per trip by ez-link card or cash. Double decker buses were fully deployed on the 3 CityBuzz Services, allowing passengers to enjoy cool comfort while exploring the sights of Singapore. For unlimited rides on CityBuzz Services, a 1-day CityBuzzPass can be obtained at $5 (later on increased to $6 on 1st May 2006) from TransitLink Ticket Office, the Singapore Visitors Centre at Orchard Rd, bus captains onboard CityBuzz Services & authorised sales agents. Citybuzz Services can be identified with "a friendly bee" with a special service plate to distinct away from normal red service plates. All 3 CityBuzz Services start & end its trip based on the specially designated key stops.
The CityBuzzPass Privileges Programme was also been introduced to those who present the CityBuzzPass to selected merchants for discounts and special offers.
CityBuzz Services ran as a "monorail" concept. Passengers need not press the bus stopping bell, as the chime will sound to identify the next key stop.
Due to declining demand, all CityBuzz Services were withdrawn from 1st January 2007. Its last day of service was on 31st December 2006.
