The Bombardier Innovia APM 100 (formerly known as the CX-100) is an automated people mover (APM) rolling stock first developed by Adtranz (now Bombardier Transportation), intended mainly for airport connections and light rail in towns. They are operated by Automatic Train Control (ATC), making it fully automatic and driverless. 19 units are in service on the Bukit Panjang LRT, and more are formerly used on the Changi Airport Skytrain until March 2006.
These units (also referred to as vehicles) are rubber-tired, running on concrete tracks and are fitted with windows which turns near opaque within 6 metres of residential buildings.
During peak hours, these vehicles can be coupled in pairs. Morning peak hours usually see these coupled units serving Service B, while during the evening peak hours, such units are not specifically assigned a certain route.
The Innovia APM 100 began operations on the Bukit Panjang LRT in 1999. These cars are similar to the ones formerly used at Singapore Changi Airport’s Skytrainsystem in the early 1990s, jointly built by Westinghouse and Adtranz (acquired by Bombardier). Most of the new features available in newer MRT train cars are found here as well.
