Bombardier INNOVIA C801A (APM 100) is an automated people mover (APM) train built by Adtranz (now Bombardier Transportation) for the use on the Bukit Panjang LRT line. These trains are mainly for airport connections and light rail in towns, operating by Automatic Train Control (ATC), making it fully automatic and driverless.

This additional batch of trains will be arriving progressively by mid-2015, and subsequently increasing the capacity of the Bukit Panjang LRT line by 50% by end 2015.

C801A Fleet Info

Operation

The C801A trains are fully automated, without attendant, running on a system that are similar to the C801 trains.

Trains can be coupled for two-car operations during peak hours.

Features

Design

The C801A trains are relatively different from the C801 trains in terms of exterior and interior looks.

  • Painted with SMRT's new livery.
  • Circular headlights unlike the C801s, which have rectangular headlights.
  • Solar windshields installed at both windows of the car to help deflect sunlight and keep cabin temperatures cool.
  • Ergonomic seat profile.
  • Red reserved seats for clearer separation between normal and reserved seats.
  • Yellow hand grips.

Others

Similarly to the C801 trains, rubber-tired wheels are used to run on a concrete track extremely quiet. Windows mist within 6 meters of residential buildings, eliminating both noise and privacy concerns.

Trainset numbers

Individual cars are given a three-digit serial number by the rail operator, SMRT Corporation, ranging from 120 to 133.
