Incidents
2002 train disruption
On 21 October 2002, the entire Bukit Panjang LRT service was shut down at 6.38am after a disruption caused by a dislodged train wheel, which led to the power system being crippled between Bukit Panjang and Senja stations. Partial LRT services only resumed at 6.30pm on 24 October 2002 and full services at 12pm on 26 October 2002.
For the first time in history of the MRT and LRT, LRT services were free on 27 October 2002 as a way of compensating passengers of the inconvenience.[1]
2012 train disruption
The Bukit Panjang LRT service was disrupted on the afternoon on 22 April 2012 due to a train fault between Bukit Panjang and Senja stations. The disruption occurred at 4.45pm and affected Services A and C.
SMRT said that one train running Service A stalled before it entered Senja station.
There were 11 passengers on board then. Accompanied by staff, the passengers left the train and walked on a 1.5-metre-wide emergency walkway for about 150 metres to Senja station. Service A was restored two and a half hours later.[2]
