Statutory Lifespan of Buses

From 1973 to 1997, the statutory lifespan was 12 years. Changes were being done:
- From 1 January 1997: Extension of statutory lifespan from 12 years to 13 years for selected buses.
- From 1 January 1998: Extension of statutory lifespan from 13 years to 14 years for selected buses.
- From 1 January 1999: Extension of statutory lifespan from 14 years to 15 years.
- From 15 January 2001: Optional lifespan extension to 17 years for selected buses, beginning with Leyland Olympian 2-Axles.
- From 1 June 2005 to 31 August 2005, a statutory lifespan was given to extend the lifespan of buses for the second time to 19 years.
- From 1 September 2005: Mandatory statutory lifespan extended to 17 years for all buses, but extended to 19 years, 19 years 6 months and 20 years for selected buses.
