Great World (TE15) is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Thomson–East Coast Line.[1]
History
Fibre Broadband Disruption
More than 500 fibre-broadband subscribers from all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) were cut off from the Internet on 12 June 2015 for more than 8 hours because of MRT construction work in Kim Seng Road. The Land Transport Authority apologies for the disruption as its Thomson East Coast Line contractor had damaged a section of NetLink Trust's fibre optic cables while carrying out piling works at the upcoming Great World station site.[2]
Construction Accident
A Bangladeshi construction worker was killed when the excavator's bucket was dislodged and fell on him on 19 December 2015 at about 5.30pm while the station is being constructed. The victim was guiding an excavator within the worksite when the bucket dislodged. He was taken to Singapore General Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. The reason is currently under investigation. No stop work order was given on the worksite.[3]
