More than 500 fibre-broadband subscribers from all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) were cut off from the Internet on 12 June 2015 for more than 8 hours because of MRT construction work in Kim Seng Road. A Bangladeshi construction worker was killed when the excavator's bucket was dislodged and fell on him on 19 December 2015 at about 5.30pm while the station is being constructed. The victim was guiding an excavator within the worksite when the bucket dislodged. He was taken to Singapore General Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. The reason is currently under investigation. SMRT Trains
  • From Sunday, 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, Train Services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 22:30 every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays).   • From Saturday, 7 December 2024 to 10 December 2024. There will be no train service between Tampines station and Tanah Merah station with Simei station being closed. This is to prepare for the opening of the new East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID) in 2026, LTA and SMRT will be undertaking a series of works to facilitate the connection of tracks from the existing East–West Line to the ECID. Shuttle Buses will be operating at intervals of 5 mins.

History

Fibre broadband disruption

On 11 June 2015 at 10.40am, nearby residents were affected by an internet outage due to construction works inadvertently damaging a section of fibre optic cables while carrying out piling works at Kim Seng Road. The disruption lasted more than eight hours and affected all the major internet service providers. In a separate statement, the Land Transport Authority apologised for the disruption.[2]

Construction accident
