Woodlands is a planning area, a residential town and a regional centre in Singapore's North Region. The town is connected to Johor Bahru, Malaysia's southernmost city, via the Johor - Singapore Causeway. Woodlands has a land area of around 13.59km2, and ranks 20th, 4th & 4th in terms of size, population & density respectively. Woodlands New Town is situated within the Woodlands planning area.
Woodlands planning area is located east of Sembawang, north of Mandai, east of Sungei Kadut and south of Johore Bahru. It is divided into 9 subzones, namely Woodlands Regional Centre, Woodlands East, Midview, Woodgrove, Woodlands South, Woodlands West, Greenwood Park, Senoko West and North Coast.
