Bukit Batok is a planning area and matured residential town located at the eastern boundary of the West Region of Singapore. Measuring at approximately 11.13 km2, Bukit Batok ranks the 25th, 12th & 11th in terms of size, population & density respectively. It is bordered by six other planning areas, namely, Choa Chu Kang to the north and northwest, Bukit Panjang to the northeast and east, Clementi to the south, Bukit Timah to the southeast, Jurong East to the southwest and Tengah to the west.
Bukit Batok largely sits on Gombak norite, a geological formation that is found in high concentrations within the planning area itself, as well as in the western parts of neighbouring Bukit Panjang.
Bukit Batok New Town is located within Bukit Batok Planning Area. It is bounded by Bukit Batok Road, the Pan Island Expressway, along the western edge of Toh Tuck private estate, Bukit Batok East Avenue 6, Old Jurong Road, Bukit Timah Road, the north edge of Bukit Batok Nature Park, south edge of Hillview estate, east and north edge of Bukit Batok Town Park, and Bukit Batok West Avenue 5 back to Bukit Batok Road.
Bukit Batok is made out of 9 subzones, namely, Brickworks, Bukit Batok Central, Bukit Batok East, Bukit Batok South, Bukit Batok West, Gombak, Guilin, Hillview and Hong Kah North.
