	From Sunday, 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, Train Services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 22:30 every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays). This is to facilitate the upgrading of the BPLRT signalling system, as well as the testing of the new and retrofitted Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) on the BPLRT network. There will be no train service between Tampines station and Tanah Merah station with Simei station being closed. This is to prepare for the opening of the new East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID) in 2026, LTA and SMRT will be undertaking a series of works to facilitate the connection of tracks from the existing East–West Line to the ECID. From Sunday, 1 December 2024, Compassvale Bus Interchange will close following the opening of Buangkok Bus Interchange. Bus Services 110 , 114 & 156 will be amended to operate from Buangkok Bus Interchange while Bus Service 374 will be amended to operate from Sengkang Interchange. Tanah Merah (EW4/CG) is an elevated Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East–West Line.

The station is the only interchange station not to be part of two or more lines, due to it being an interchange between the main line and its extension. Despite having the station code of Template:Code/2, the official station code for this station remains Template:Code/1.

Similar to other stations on the eastern section of the East–West Line, the station's design consists of white-washed walls and a dome-shaped ceiling, with a glass roof running along the middle of the station.

Tanah Merah Modification Project

The Tanah Merah Modification Project (TMMP) was announced by Land Transport Authority (LTA) on 25 August 2014 which consists of an additional track and platform to allow trains arriving and departing towards Changi Airport at a shorter intervals. Construction enhancements commenced in 2016 and is expected to be completed by 2024.
