Boon Lay is a planning area located in the West Region of Singapore. Measuring at approximately 8.23 km2, Boon Lay ranks the 35th, 47th & 44th in terms of size, population & density respectively.

Boon Lay is located along the southwestern coast of the Singapore mainland and to the north of Jurong Island. It is made out of 4 subzones Liu Fang, Samulun, Shipyard and Tukang. The planning area is bounded by Pioneer to the west, Jurong West to the north, Jurong East to the east and the strait of Selat Jurong to the south.

Included as part of the territory of Boon Lay Planning Area is Pulau Samulun, a minor island off Singapore's southwestern coast and connected to the mainland via Jalan Samulun.

Jurong Bird Park[edit]

Jurong Bird Park (裕廊飞禽公园; Taman Burung Jurong), was a tourist attraction in Singapore. Located in the Jurong district, it was a world-famous bird zoo wherein there were specimens of magnificent bird life from around the world, including a flock of one thousand and one flamingos.

Pulau Samulun[edit]

Pulau Samulun is an offshore island in Jurong Industrial Estate. It is separated from mainland Singapore by Selat Samulun. It is only less than a kilometre away from Singapore mainland. Jurong Shipyard is located in Pulau Samulun and it also houses a food centre that caters to the workers working there. Samulun is from "sembulun" a tribe of Orang Laut who once lived here.
