	From Sunday, 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, Train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 22:30 every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays). This is to facilitate the upgrading of the BPLRT signalling system, as well as the testing of the new and retrofitted Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) on the BPLRT network. Construction Design

When the MRT system was built in the 1980s, majority of the stations were designed to have an island platform. However, the closely built HDB Blocks in the area meant that the train tunnels had to be constructed directly under Lorong 2 Toa Payoh, following the bend of the road. The result made it impossible for tracks to diverge at a common platform station, as the angle Southbound trains would turn when approaching and leaving the station would be too great.

It would be unfeasible to change the position of the station, because moving it south would render it too close to Toa Payoh station, while moving it north would be impossible because of surrounding HDB blocks and JTC Flatted factories. This position would be the best for the station, it was thus built with side platforms.
