History

Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CRRC Qingdao Sifang was awarded Contract T251 in 2014 at a cost of $749.8 million for the construction of 364 passenger cars.[1]

Fleet Numbering

The car numbers of the trains range from 2x001 to 2x091, where x depends on the carriage type.

  • The first digit identifies the position of the car from the closest end of the train; where ‘1’ represents first car, ‘2’ represents second car, ‘3’ represents third car and ‘4’ represents fourth car.
    • (Example) Passenger Vehicle 2005 would consist of 4 cars with serial number 21005, 22005, 23005 and 24005 respectively.
  • Depending on the direction of travel, the sequence may be reversed.
