Mountbatten MRT Station (CC7) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Circle Line.
History
It is named after 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, the Supreme Allied Commander (Southeast Asia) who accepted the Japanese surrender during World War II.
The alignment of the underground Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway intersects with the alignment of the railway tunnels of the Circle Line between Mountbatten and Template:Station (MRT). It posed a construction challenge as both were constructed at the same time.
Art in Transit
The artwork featured in this station is Lord Mountbatten Thinks of Pink by Jason Wee. The artwork depicts a modern container ship at those 'pink' hours, a vessel typical of those moored off the Fort Road shoreline close to the station.
