SMRT Buses Bus Service 179 is a residential and school bus service that operates within Jurong West, connecting the transport nodes of EW27Boon Lay and EW28Pioneer to campuses around the southern part of Nanyang Technological University (NTU). It is one of the busiest bus routes throughout the day, with high frequencies and a huge fleet of buses catering to large groups of commuters that are mostly students.

During the NTU school term, weekday peak-hour supplementary variant, Service 179A provides faster journeys with limited stops only at EW27Boon Lay and in Nanyang Technological University, skipping all stops along Jurong West Street 63 and Pioneer Road North.
