SMRT Buses Bus Service 974 is an inter-town service linking the residential estates of Jurong West, Choa Chu Kang, and Bukit Panjang, and the Jurong Industrial Estate. It complements Service 172 between Boon Lay and Choa Chu Kang stations by using the Kranji Expressway (KJE) instead of Old Choa Chu Kang Road.

Buses departing Joo Koon Interchange after 2245 hours terminate at Bukit Panjang which are indicated with the “A” suffix (Short-Trip 974A). Additionally, additional special departure trips departs from Choa Chu Kang station towards Bukit Panjang to provide last-mile connectivity for Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang residents.

Operating hours are extended on the eves of public holidays to align with the last train at Choa Chu Kang station. Revised timing will be announced closer to the respective dates by the operator.
