Bus Service 181

	From Sunday, 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, Train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 22:30 every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays). This is to facilitate the upgrading of the BPLRT signalling system, as well as the testing of the new and retrofitted Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) on the BPLRT network. From Monday, 24 March 2025, supplementary bus service 979X will be introduced to provide a faster connection for residents in Yew Tee Village to and from Bukit Panjang MRT / Bus Interchange. Bus service 979X will supplement bus service 979 and serve selected bus stops along its route. It will operate on weekdays (excluding Public Holidays) during the morning and evening peak periods. SMRT Buses Service 181 is a residential service connecting EW27Boon Lay to residential neighbourhoods along Jurong West Street 64, Jurong West Street 75, Jurong West Avenue 5 and Jurong West Avenue 3, complementing feeder services 243G and 243W up till Gek Poh Shopping Centre.

Despite its classification as a trunk service, it only serves the Jurong West planning area and loops at a dedicated u-turn point at Jurong West Avenue 3, at which future developments might serve a purpose for this service.

During weekday morning peak hours of the school term, supplementary variant Service 181M provides students a direct connection to Coporation Primary School along Jurong West Street 23. Service 181 will not operate while Service 181M is in operation. On the eve of public holidays, operating hours will be extended to align with the extended train service hours at EW27Boon Lay. Extended last bus timings will be provided by the operator closer to the affected day.
