Tower Transit City Direct Service 653 provides residents of Hillview subzone (Bukit Batok) and Bukit Batok, who rely on the rail network and feeder buses, with a direct travel alternative to the Central Business District (CBD). This service incorporates an express sector between Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 and Central Business District via Pan Island Expressway (PIE), Clementi Avenue 6, and Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE).

This service is the 18^th bus service introduced under the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP).

Evening peak-hour departures will be brought forward to the afternoon on the eves of Christmas, New Year, and Lunar New Year. Revised timing will be announced closer to the respective dates by the operator.
