Constructions
Contract 1280 consists of viaducts between Boon Lay and Joo Koon stations, as well as Pioneer and Joo Koon stations, was awarded to Sato Kogyo Pte Ltd and Greatearth Pte Ltd Joint Venture in July 2005 at a sum of $99.8 million.[5][6]
Incidents
On 15 November 2017, at approximately 8.20am, two Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CSR Qingdao Sifang 151A trains collided at Joo Koon station. A train fault had caused the first train, Tuas Link bound, to stall at the platform. A minute later, a second train, which had stopped behind it, moved forward unexpectedly and collided with the stationary train. 36 passengers and 2 staff sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. This was the second collision in the MRT system’s history, following an incident at Clementi station in 1993.[7][8]
