	From 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 10.30pm every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays). SMRT Buses Bus Service 248 is an industrial service connecting the transport nodes of Tuas West Road and Tuas Link to various industrial estates located in Tuas South, calling at bus stops along Tuas South Avenue 12, Tuas South Avenue 14, Tuas South Avenue 9 and Tuas South Avenue 10. It was introduced in tandem with the opening of the Tuas West MRT extension along East–West Line, and indirectly complements Service 182 by covering more industrial areas in Tuas South that were previously not served by public buses.

This service is the 74^th bus service introduced under the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP).

SMRT Buses Bus Service 248M is a full-day supplementary route variant that makes a short detour along Tuas South Way, providing basic public transport services for workers at Tuas Mega Port. In view of consistent demand patterns at Tuas Mega Port, it received an upgrade to its operating hours with additional alternate trips of its parent route during off-peak hours in 2023.
