2020 train disruption[edit]
On 27 February 2020, a power fault along the North East Line (NEL) resulted in service disruptions between Serangoon and Punggol stations. At 5.35am, a shuttle train service was provided which operated on a single platform between Buangkok and Punggol stations. In order to facilitate maintenance functions, the power source to the tracks between Hougang and Punggol stations was switched off. Additionally, free regular and bridging bus services have been provided to serve these stations. Train service resumed at 12.15pm.[1] Investigations later revealed that a broken contact wire affected the power source to trains launching from Sengkang Depot, causing the service disruptions.[2]
Reception Tracks[edit]
On the North East Line, it has 3 reception tracks, 2 that lead to Sengkang station and 1 to Hougang station.
On the Sengkang LRT and Punggol LRT, it has 2 reception tracks, 1 that lead towards Tongkang station and 1 to Layar station.
